The ground is thawing!

I just made a quick trek out to the raised beds.  The soil is about 1/2 thawed already, and the compost pile is thawing too!  Most of the snow in the yard is melted, and the sun feels warm again.  But the best news of the day?...  The Sandhill Cranes arrived this morning!  I heard them at 6:30 this morning, it woke me up out of a dead sleep!  What a way to announce the return of spring in Alaska!!!

    I heard sandhill cranes this morning too! My husband said he saw a robin on his way to work. Isn't spring exciting?

    So cool! The Sandhills were here in our town on their migration, probably up to you. We don't see them often around here but a couple small towns actually have SHC festivals during the migration season.
    Sounds like you live in a lovely place.
