Getting ready for this years garden...
So much is happening around here, I am finding it hard to sit down long enough to post about this years garden happenings! The snow is all gone, and my raised garden beds are thawed out and warming nicely! I have prepped all the garden beds, and so far have planted lettuce, turnips, spinach and snap peas. I have also planted potatoes for the first time ever! I am trying the black garbage bag method, as this is the cheapest, easiest route for me this year. Also, I have officially started a worm farm! Vermicompost will be nourishing my tomatoes this year, and I am very excited about it! I don't have any pictures yet, but I will work on that for all of you yearning for a little garden porn! What are you all doing in the garden right now?

Oooh! I'm hoping to start using compost next year. It looks so complicated though. Is there a 'Compost For Dummies' I should look for? :)
ReplyDeleteI was intimidated when I first started also, but it is really stupidly easy. There is a book, called "Let it Rot" (which you can find in my library list to the left of this post) which would be really helpful, but honestly, if you aren't in a hurry, you can do cold compost and it will happen eventually, even if you totally neglect your pile!
ReplyDeleteCompost is the best thing since sliced bread. I started a new pile last night (a good Mothers Day present) and will start a moose dropping compost pile this week. Love it. And I have worms too. Good luck with the potatoes.
