Slow-Cooker Baked Apples

This is how it all started... 3 chopped apples, 4 tbsp butter, 1/2 cup oatmeal, 1/2 cup sugar, 2 tbsp vanilla extract and some sprinkles of cinnamon and sugar all set on low in my crock-pot early this afternoon.  Now....

My house smells heavenly, and after dinner this will be topped with caramel praline ice cream.  My children are drooling as we speak...


In other news, we FINALLY got the snow we've been missing for over a month! Yesterday started out with an ice storm which turned into a huge snowstorm, and finally the world is white again!  The kids are loving it, and even the geese seem to enjoy it a bit.  I thought they might sleep in the coop for once, but they seemed quite content to sleep outside in their usual spot!

Still Here... Just Nothing To Say...

Today is May 4th. The temperature reached as high as 40F, and it snowed...

I have been delayed over a month now in getting the run and coop built for my geese because the snow hasn't all melted yet.

Some years, I already have things planted in the garden by this date.

My seedlings are dying to go outside!

Long story short, I'm still here, but I'm a grumpy gardener, and I have nothing to say!  Join me on facebook, however, as things are slightly more interesting over there!  And don't worry, I'll have more to write about eventually...

Look what I woke up to this morning!

Spring has definitely NOT sprung!  I knew it was too good to be true!  It sure was nice while it lasted though.  We already have about six inches of fresh powder, and it shows no sign of stopping.

Be careful what you wish for!

We got almost 6 inches of fresh snow yesterday. Everything is all white and sparkling now, but the clouds are gone and its cold! -9F, but its so beautiful... I just love it! We lost power for about 1/2 hour this morning, but nothing to be too concerned about. Now, if I just had a wood stove, life would be perfectly cozy!

Finally Snow!

I thought it was never going to happen, but look at what we woke up to this morning!!

Brrrrrrr!

Zero degrees Fahrenheit this morning!!! The weather sure can change fast around here! We need snow pronto to act as insulation for the long winter ahead. The reports all seem to say its going to snow tomorrow, so here's hoping!

First snow of the season!!

Ok, so there isn't much, but the important thing is that when I woke up this morning, there was snow falling! My son JUMPED out of bed when I told him the news, and now he is very excited about snowballs and snowmen. I'm pretty sure Robert is gonna get pelted by a snowball or two this year.

Its official!

There is officially frost on my car this morning! Autumn is here, snow will not be far behind. Bring it on!!!
